Your trailer lends a huge helping hand to your business, no matter what kind of cargo you’re transporting. These trusty vehicles can be a great asset for those who use them daily as well as those who need them occasionally. Despite the fact that they come ready to serve you in a number of ways, there are some aftermarket upgrades that can really hike up their utility.

There are a number of accessories available for trailers but you won’t need all of them for your work. Read on to see which one of the following items will help you increase efficiency, productivity and utility. Spare Tire

You know how helpful it can be to have a spare tire in your car or truck, so why wouldn’t it help to have a spare tire on hand in your trailer? Some newer models might supply this when you purchase it, but if you didn’t get one with the vehicle, it is definitely a good idea to get one now. This trailer upgrade will make it easier to replace a tire on the road since you won’t have to go get one then come back to change it, or worse yet, get your trailer towed.

Lights

Most trailer models on the market come with some basic lighting (like brake lights) but they could be missing some other important lights. Those are trailer customizations to invest in because they can make it much safer and easier to be on the road by making your entire rig more visible to other motorists. You can also upgrade to LED lights for brighter, longer-lasting bulbs.

Document Tubes

Whether you’re a part of a fleet or an individual hauler, when you’re traveling on the road you need to keep some important documents on hand. These include the registration, business documents, and even maintenance records. To keep these papers clean and secure, get yourself a document tube. These are also good for easy access because all your documents will be in one place.

D-Rings/Tie-Down

Even if you’re able to secure your cargo using the old-fashioned squeeze-it-in method, the best way to ensure everything stays in place is to tie it down. This is especially true for vehicles, but it can also be true for bigger items as well. If your trailer does not already have D-rings or tie-down mechanisms, we highly recommend installing them. We also recommend getting some sturdy ratchet straps to take full advantage of these rings.

Ladder Racks

There are some upgrades that are designed specifically for enclosed trailers. One such upgrade is a ladder rack. Ladders can be heavy and hard to fit inside a loaded trailer, but they’re also a necessary item for many reasons. You can add a rack to the outside of the trailer to save space inside yet still have your useful tool on hand when needed.

Fuel Fill Doors

Sometimes people use their trailers to transport powersports vehicles. At such times, it helps to be able to access those machines without having to unload them. You can install fuel fill doors to access your powersports vehicles and fill up their fuel tanks. All you’ll have to do is open the door and refuel through the wall of the trailer.

Shelving Units

It’s easy to simply toss your tools inside your trailer but this is also a good way to lose track of things. Installing shelving units might be a somewhat extensive project, but it can give you a way to organize your tools and cargo to give you easy access to everything you need. It’ll also help you free up space on the trailer floor for other, bigger items.

We hope this list helps you turn your trailer into a more convenient and profitable unit!
