Drop-Side

These beds are more common on heavy-duty trucks and look somewhat similar to that of a standard truck bed. However, if you look closely you’ll realize that rather than just the tailgate folding down, every side of the truck can be lowered to have it mirror a flatbed model. This not only makes loading cargo much easier, but it adds an extra layer of protection in case your tie downs fail.

Flatbed

A flatbed is one of the most common bed types for heavy-duty trucks and is popular for its impressive weight capabilities and durable materials. As the name implies, these beds have no siding whatsoever, making them incredibly easy to load. They also support a number of different tie-downs and allow haulers to transport bulky and unwieldy cargo that may not fit into other truck beds.

Standard

A standard truck bed is the most common on the market, and you’ll see it modeled on almost every pickup truck on the street. If you haven’t seen one of these common truck beds before, they have a full perimeter of siding, with the tailgate folding down to make loading cargo a bit easier. Because these truck beds are so common, they also come in 3 different sizes. Short beds are a  bit more square than other models and are typically found on compact trucks. Long truck beds are found on larger pick-ups and are more rectangular on average. Mid-range beds are the size most commonly associated with standard trucks and, like the longer models, are more on the rectangular side.
