No matter the job, if there’s heavy lifting to be done and cargo to be transported, you’re going to want a trailer. But finding the type of trailer that best matches your needs can be tricky, so we here at APC Trailers have put together a rundown on some of the more common types, below. To learn more, or to see the trailers we have for sale, contact our store in Tucson, Arizona, today!

Car Haulers

Like the name says, these trailers help transport consumer vehicles without risking road damage and wear and tear, and without adding miles to it. They’re great for bringing vintage cars to a show, a newly-purchased car to a client or customer, or just getting your vehicle across the country easily.

Tilt Trailers

These trailers utilize hydraulics at the front end of the trailer to tilt the bed. This turns the rear end of the deck into a ramp, making it simpler to:
Load or unload cargo, including wheeled tools and vehicles
Operate in tight quarters, since you don’t need an external ramp
Carry more cargo, since you don’t need to transport an external ramp

Dump Trailers

Similar to tilt trailers, dump trailers have high sidewalls and are most often used to move loose material like dirt, docks, sand, debris, and more. Load it up, take the material where you need it, lower the gate, and use the hydraulics to simply dump the material at the target site. They’re useful in agricultural, landscaping, and construction settings.

Utility and Cargo Trailers

The jack-of-all-trade trailers are utility (or open) trailers and cargo (or enclosed) trailers. Both are relatively simple. Utility trailers have low to high sidewalls and may or may not have a gate or ramp, but otherwise have no complicated features, making them lightweight and versatile.

Cargo or enclosed trailers have a fully-enclosed deck, allowing you to stack cargo higher and protect sensitive or valuable cargo from the elements or potentially-sticky fingers. Both trailers come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and materials.

Boat Trailers

If you need a way to safely and securely get your vessel to the water from storage or your home, a boat trailer is a must. They tend to come in three styles (bunk, roller, and float-on), each with their own strengths and benefits.

Horse/Livestock/Stock Trailers

For moving livestock, horses, or other animals around, you’ll need a trailer to match. Most specific animals have a trailer designed for their unique build, but all of these trailers feature ventilated cargo bays, a roof and locking gate, and internal barriers to keep the animals separate and stable.
